Meet Dr. Lauren Chase: Why I Became a Therapist and How I Help Women Rise Above Anxiety and Self-Doubt

If you're here, chances are you're looking for something more—more confidence, more clarity, more peace in your daily life. Maybe you’re the kind of woman who looks like she’s “got it all together” on the outside but often feels overwhelmed, stuck, or never quite good enough on the inside. I see you. I understand you. And I built Climbing Hills Counseling with you in mind.

I’m Dr. Lauren Chase—a licensed therapist serving women and girls across North Carolina and South Carolina—and I want to share a bit about how I got here, and how I can walk alongside you on your path toward healing and growth.

Why I Got Into Counseling

I didn’t always know I wanted to become a therapist, but I’ve always been drawn to deep conversations—the kind that move beyond small talk and into what’s really going on beneath the surface.

Growing up, I was often the friend others came to when they needed someone to listen, to sit with them in the hard moments, and to help them make sense of their thoughts. That natural empathy and curiosity eventually led me to study psychology and eventually, mental health counseling and over time, it became clear: helping people heal and grow wasn’t just something I was good at—it was something I loved.

But what really pulled me toward counseling was watching how so many high-achieving women were silently struggling. Women who are smart, capable, and successful—but who carry invisible burdens: anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, guilt. Women who are constantly climbing but never feel like they’ve reached the top. I wanted to create a space just for them—a space to rest, to be seen, and to reconnect with their strength.

My Experience and Approach

I’m a licensed clinical mental health therapist with advanced training in counselor education and supervision, experienced in treating anxiety, identity concerns, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges. I specialize in working with high-achieving women and girls, especially those who are navigating complex roles—as mothers, professionals, daughters, leaders, and students.

I also have a strong passion for perinatal mental health—supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and the identity shifts that come with motherhood. I got certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International to deepen that work.

My style is warm, conversational, and collaborative. You won’t find judgment or clinical detachment here—just someone who’s genuinely interested in helping you live a more grounded, fulfilling life. I blend evidence-based approaches like:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Person-Centered Therapy

  • Mindfulness strategies

  • Motivational Interviewing

Together, we’ll tailor a plan that feels supportive and practical for your unique needs.

How I Can Help

Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you—because you’re not broken. It’s about helping you:

  • Quiet the anxious inner voice that says you're not doing enough

  • Let go of perfectionism and constant pressure

  • Feel more present and confident in your relationships and work

  • Rediscover who you are underneath the expectations

Whether you’re managing motherhood, a demanding job, school, or just trying to stay afloat, I can help you build resilience, clarity, and peace. Most importantly, I’ll meet you with compassion—right where you are.

Let’s Climb Together

I named my practice Climbing Hills Counseling because life often feels like an uphill journey—especially for women who are trying to do it all. My role isn’t to lead from the top, but to walk beside you as you climb. Step by step. At your pace.

If you’re ready to take that first step, I’m here.
